I can’t help but notice that MAC has been releasing limited edition lip kit duo’s every month since the beginning of the year. Back in February, we were graced with the Stripped Naked Lip Kits, then in March we saw the Deeps Lip Kit which featured 5 pairs of deep colour lipstick and lip liner. In April, they released the MAC Dark Nudes Lip Kits which I had to check out as I love anything nude-makeup related!

So far, I’m a huge fan of these lip kits – these limited edition sets feature their regular / permanent-range lip products so you’re getting a really great deal if you are looking to get a colour-coordinated, complementary shades for your makeup collection. From the Stripped Naked released, I picked up the Honeylove Lipstick and Subculture Lipliner and in this Dark Nude Lip Kit range, I got the Yash Lipstick and Stripdown Lipliner combination. For reference, the lip kits retail for USD$29 / C$34 and is already available in-store and online. By purchasing these kits, you are saving USD$5.50 / C$8.
I am already a huge fan of MAC’s lip product range – they are comfortable, pigmented, and reasonably priced in the realm of high-end makeup. Quality aside, I love the range of colour in their collection – there’s something for every occasion and for every kind of preference! Best of all, I appreciate that MAC has an environmentally-friendly program so I don’t have to worry about my finished makeup. If you’re not aware, you can recycle empty MAC products through the B2M Program for a free eyeshadow or lipstick.

The Yash Lipstick is a dark nude shade that is one of MAC’s most popular colour. From the reviews that I’ve read online, I feel like this is a good colour for medium and darker skintones. I foresee myself wearing this a lot during the summer when I’m a tad bit more tanned.

The Yash Lipstick is a dark nude shade that is one of MAC’s most popular colour. From the reviews that I’ve read online, I feel like this is a good colour for medium and darker skintones. I foresee myself wearing this a lot during the summer when I’m a tad bit more tanned. This shade is very similar to Bite Beauty’s Honeycomb Amuse Bouche lipstick, so just a heads up in case you have been looking or wanting to try out this shade!

The Stripdown Lipliner is another one of those really popular staple shades. This shade is more of a brown-nude shade which again, will work really well not only with Yash, but to define the lips and could work really well with some of the lighter nude shade! I don’t have a lipliner in this dark nude family just yet, but I think it will work really well with the Make Up For EverArtist Liquid Matte in #107 which I reviewed earlier this year.

Similar to the previous lip duo launches, this release is nothing too wild in terms of colour options. The value of these kits and checking them out at least once a month (Or follow me on Facebook to get updates!) is the saving and getting two colour-coordinated products without having to decide for yourself!
Have you tried either one of these shades from MAC?

As some of you may know I did a mini MAC haul a few weeks back and picked up three MAC lipsticks. I’ve already talked about MAC Taupe and MAC Mehr, so all I had left to talk about was MAC Yash. Since I had already done a review on the other two, it is only fair that I also do a MAC Yash Lipstick review and share my thoughts.
I gravitated towards MAC Yash as it seemed to look like a less pinkier version MAC Velvet Teddy, which appealed to me as I am in the search for a good nude for my skin tone. It is described as a ‘deep neutral’ which isn’t really much of a description to me if I am honest! I would describe this as a deep yellow toned nude, which is a flattering nude shade for warmer skin tones. This comes in a matte finish, which is creamy and easy to apply and not drying on the lips. If you are looking for a ‘your lips but better’ type of nude, a matte finish isn’t ideal as no one has naturally matte lips. However this is a very good nude shade for when you want something neutral on the lips, especially if have heavy/strong makeup on the rest of your face.
On my lips, it is a little too light for my personal preference, I know that a lot of people like that kind of look but some reason I just can’t pull it off. I have seen this shade on darker skin tones than mine, such as MAC NC44, and it looks really nice but maybe my skin tone is too yellow for light nudes. I end up feeling like I look like I have put concealer on my lips! However, I do still really like this lipstick as it is still wearable with a darker lip liner to create an ombre-ish lip or even in the centre of my lips to make them look fuller. I definitely will try wearing it on its own simply to try and overcome my fear of a light lip but if I can’t I know I will still get lots of wear out of this lipstick by mixing it with other lipsticks and lip liners.

When it comes to wear, like the other matte lipsticks it can last around 6 hours, less if you are eating. Since it is such a creamy matte, it is really easy to reapply should you need to and you can help prolong the wear by wearing a lip liner underneath. Overall this is a really nice nude lipstick, and I think I prefer it to Velvet Teddy. It’s not a blow my socks off kind of shade, but I think that is simply personal preference and it might be someone’s perfect nude. If you are of warm olive skin tone I would definitely swatch it if you go near a MAC counter as you might end up finding your holy grail item, as the potential is definitely there.

Of the three lipsticks I picked up, I think Taupe (read my review) is definitely my favourite and I have used up half the tube already. I already know I will be repurchasing it, however I may have to start using my other lipsticks as they must be feeling neglected by now! I’ve really liked doing individual lipstick reviews as I don’t think I’ve done many of those before, so hopefully this is something I can continue. I hope you liked my MAC Yash Lipstick review, if you have any questions please feel free to ask as I am happy to answer. View downloads on mac. Tanzina x
