Hey there wardut,
The first thing to check if your thumb drive is not showing up on a Mac is if the problem is with the particular USB port that you are using. At the risk of stating the obvious, your first move should be to try the device in an alternate USB port available on your machine. Hi guys, i updated the macos from high sierra to mojave the latest version uninstalled the vm fusion 10 pro and installed the 11 pro. I found the usb devices cannot connect to virtual system and i have it set to ask which device to connect to but this window does not appear since i updated the vm fusion and macos. Connect your USB device to your Mac. Make sure the device is detected on the Mac side: In case of an external storage device it should appear in Finder; In case of other devices (eg. Mobile phone): Open System Information (Applications Utilities System Information), click System Report; Locate your device under the USB section. Find the word 'Devices' in the upper-left side of the Finder window. If your USB flash drive has been correctly inserted, there will be a temporary drive icon labeled with the name of your USB flash drive. Temporary drive icons are white, while permanent drive icons, such as the icon for your hard drive, are gray.
It sounds like your USB device is not working as expected. I want to recommend this info from the article named:
OS X Lion: If a USB device isn’t working

If a USB device isn’t working properly, make sure you connected it to your computer correctly, plugged it into a power outlet if it has a power cord, and installed any software it needs.

- Make sure the USB device’s cables are properly connected.
- Make sure you installed the latest software for your device. Visit the manufacturer’s website for any updates.
- If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord, try plugging the device directly into your computer or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
- If the device is connected to a USB hub, make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and connect USB 1.1 full-speed or low-speed devices to a USB 1.1 full-speed or low-speed hub.
- Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device that causes the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
- Open System Information, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad, and then click USB. If the device appears but does not work, the problem might be with the device. Review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
